About Richard T. Ethridge, M.D., Ph.D.
A plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the breast, body, and face, Dr. Ethridge's practice is conveniently located in the heart of the downtown Fort Worth Medical District at 1622 Eighth Avenue.
Dr. Ethridge has been on Fort Worth Texas Magazine's Top Docs list for the past two consecutive years. This year he was named a 2010 Top Doc in Cosmetic Surgery, and previously he was a 2009 Top Doc in the field of Plastic/Reconstructive Surgery.
Raised in Fort Worth and having graduated from Trinity Valley School, Dr. Ethridge received his undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin. He continued his education at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston where he received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Human Biological Chemistry and Genetics, his Medical Doctorate and numerous academic awards.
Dr. Ethridge received his formal training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and was honored with election into Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed externships in cosmetic surgery at the prestigious Plastic Surgery Associates in Miami, Florida under the direction of Dr. James Stuzin, in microvascular surgery at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas and in cosmetic surgery at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute in Dallas, Texas under the direction of Dr. John Burns.
The author of numerous peer reviewed articles and book chapters, Dr. Ethridge holds a patent for a pharmaceutical use related to his years of research. He has presented multiple research papers and published articles on both local and national levels.
He has participated in Austin Smiles, an organization that provides reconstructive plastic surgery--- primarily cleft lip and palate repairs--- to children in various locations in Latin America. Read more about Dr. Ethridge's volunteer work.
Dr. Ethridge and his wife, Dr. Kristen Ethridge, have three children. In his free time, he enjoys golf, tennis, and hunting on his family’s ranch outside of Fort Worth.
